ACCESS: Travel 13 mi. north of Bayfield on CR 501 to Vallecito Reservoir. Turn east onto FS Rd #603 and cross the dam at the south end of the reservoir. Follow for about 3.4 mi. on the east side of the reservoir. The North Canyon Campground entrance.

Directions: The trail (marked #656 on the SJNF Recreation map) takes you through ponderosa and aspen forests. A scenic overlook of Vallecito Reservoir is available on a side trail along the way.
