DURANGO, Colo. - School District 9-R has issued the following News Briefs for the coming week:

Needham Second-Grade Students To Visit Durango Nature Studies

Second-grade students at Needham have an exciting field trip planned for Thursday, September 25.  They will be studying a variety of insects and learning about insect adaptation at the Durango Nature Studies.  For more information, contact the Needham office at 247-4791.

 

Fort Lewis Mesa Homework Workshop

Finding time for homework can be difficult. That is why Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary will be hosting a “Making Homework Manageable” workshop on Tuesday, September 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30.  For more information, call Terry Blair-Burton at 588-3331.

 

Blood Drive at Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary

Anyone who wants to give blood is encouraged to go to Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary on Thursday, September 25 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.  To schedule an appointment, call Sue or Terry at 588-3331, or go on-line to www.bloodhero.com.  You may also call the United Blood Services at 385-4601. 

 

Animas Valley Hosting Blood Drive

United Blood Services will be at Animas Valley Elementary School on Friday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  To make an appointment, please contact Renae Muller at 247-0124, ext. 3405.

Sunnyside School Advisory Council Meeting

Riverview Student Photos

Gifted and Talented Parent Meeting

Please join us on October 2 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Park Elementary School Library for the Durango School District 9-R Gifted and Talented Parent Meeting. Discussion will include G.T. Task Force recommendations and formation of the 9-R G.T. Steering Committee, which will follow up on recommendations. Light refreshments will be provided.

 

Cowboy Poets to Visit Miller Middle School

Miller Middle School is getting prepared for a visit from the Cowboy poets on Thursday, October 2 from 9:15 a.m. to 9:55 a.m.  The Cowboy poets will entertain the students during an all school assembly in the auditorium.
