DURANGO, Colo. – Purgatory is now accepting applications for the 16th Annual Benefit Day, held the day prior to the resort’s 2008-09 Opening Day. The fundraiser offers the selected non-profit organization proceeds from discounted lift tickets sold during the day.
All area non-profit organizations are invited to submit applications for consideration. Complete applications include a general description of the organization, what service the group provides the area community and how the donated funds will be utilized to further the group’s mission and services.
The organization selected will receive $10 of each $15 ticket sold. The balance will benefit the Durango Winter Sports Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports youth winter activities. Up to $30,000 has been raised during this single day in previous years.
Applications will be accepted through Wed., Oct. 1, and should be submitted to:
Virginia Wright
#1 Skier Place
Durango, CO 81301
All applications will be considered by a committee of resort representatives that reflect the wide breadth of the community.
Past recipients have included Durango Nature Studies, Trails 2000, the Durango Discovery Museum and the San Juan Mountains Association. Since Benefit Day began in 1992, Purgatory Mountain has donated more than $200,000 to non-profit organizations in the Durango community.
