City Begins Residential Street Sweeping

Home

The City of Durango started its annual residential street sweeping program on March 25. City residential streets will be swept every 1-2 weeks throughout the spring, summer, and fall months to help prevent dirt from entering the storm drains, which drain directly to the Animas River.

Street sweeping is scheduled for the next business day after regularly scheduled trash collection in residential neighborhoods. For example, residents on the Friday trash collection schedule would have their street swept on the following Monday.  Residents are asked to move their cars off of the street on street sweeping day in their area.  The sweeper may not sweep every street in a trash collection zone every week. However, streets that are missed one week will be swept the following week.
